Update: Derived Metrics, Hourly Trend Analysis, Resource History Tracking

Deskroom update screen showing derived metric creation, hourly trend chart, and checking the user who created and edited a resource

This update adds three features.

We added the ability to create new derived metrics by combining existing metrics, the ability to view trend charts by the hour, and the ability to instantly check who created and edited a resource.

Why it matters

When you have the data but can't view it in the form you want right away, time ends up being spent on people calculating or checking it manually. This update focuses on closing that gap, so you can judge and act the moment you look at the data.

Creating derived metrics

You can create new derived metrics by combining existing metrics.

  • Metric combination: You can select two or more existing metrics and apply an operation to create a new metric.
  • Dashboard display: The created derived metric is shown directly as a column on the dashboard.

The average of sums and the sum of averages are different. Now, with derived metrics, you can define the combination you want and check it right on the dashboard.

For example, in QA you can create a "comprehensive quality score" derived metric that sums up the averages of items such as response accuracy, tone and manner, and resolution speed, and check it directly on each individual's dashboard.

Hour-level aggregation for trend charts

In addition to daily, weekly, and monthly units, trend charts can now show data by the hour.

  • Hourly unit selection: An "Hour" option is added to the aggregation basis of trend charts.
  • Checking trends by time of day: You can split the day's data by time of day and check how it changes.

Now you can answer questions like "Orders spiked at 10 a.m., but exactly what time did it start?", "What time of day was inventory churn concentrated in?", and "Did customer inquiries really surge after lunch?" right with a single trend chart. You can grasp same-day patterns that weren't visible on a daily basis in fine detail by the hour.

Checking the user who created and edited a resource

For every resource, you can instantly check who created it and who last edited it.

  • Automatic recording of creator and editor: When a resource is created or edited, the relevant user's information is recorded automatically.
  • Check directly from the list: Creator and editor columns are added to the resource list table.
  • Check on the detail page too: You can check the same on the resource detail page.

Now you can answer the question "Who changed this setting?" right away, without any separate verification process. When a problem arises, you can quickly find the person in charge and manage the change history transparently.

You can combine the metrics you need on your own, grasp trends in fine detail by the hour, and track resource history transparently. The time you used to spend checking data can now be spent looking at the data and making decisions.
