Duplicating Views, Dashboards, and Metrics

This update adds duplication for views, dashboards, and metrics.

You can copy a configuration you already built and adjust only the parts that need to change to get a new screen or metric.

Why we made this

Analysis screens usually grow by adapting something that already works rather than starting from scratch. When you need a screen that differs by a single condition, rebuilding the filters, columns, sorting, and period from the beginning repeats work you already did, and conditions can drift subtly along the way.

This update closes that gap so a proven configuration can be your starting point.

Duplicating in three places

Create a copy straight from the list.

• View duplication: Copies a search view's filters, columns, sorting, and period settings as they are.
• Dashboard duplication: Carries the panel layout and composition over into a new dashboard.
• Metric duplication: Copies a metric's aggregation and conditions so you can change only the criteria.

Now you can build per-team views that differ only in their conditions, or carry last quarter's dashboard into this quarter, in a few actions.

Separate from the original

A copy behaves independently of what it came from.

• Independent editing: Changes to the copy leave the original configuration untouched.
• Distinct naming: Copies are named so they do not get confused with the original in the list.
• Reset sharing: Sharing settings are not carried over, so you open up only what is needed.

Now you can treat a proven configuration as a safe starting point and try variations without risking the original.

You can try it right away from the Deskroom sidebar > Analytics, in the view, dashboard, and metric lists. Spend the time you used to spend rebuilding the same configuration on making decisions from your data.
